Pallets & Cartons

  1. What height do pallets have to be in order to be transported by Chill
    1. To be transported by Chill 1.8m
  2. Do my pallets have to be wrapped for Chill to pick them up
    1. No, but you need to advise us of this
  3. Do I need a forklift available for Chill to pick up the pallets?
    1. Yes
    2. If this isn’t an option please advise your account manager as charges may incur
  4. What weight should cartons be if they are manually handled?
    1. Our guys are strong - but nothing more than 20-25kgs is our WHS limit
    All freight must be safely wrapped, packaged, sealed and adhere to max height and weight requirements to prevent damage and injury. Failure to do so may result in additional costs for rectification or refusal of service

How are pallets managed?

Pallet exchange or transfer can be facilitated on either Chep or Loscam pallets. Unbranded pallets will not be exchanged but can be returned or disposed of for a fee.

Booking

How do I make a transport booking with Chill?

  1. Via the website - using this link, www.chill.com.au or
  2. Email your account manager or your state transport department
    1. All freight must be paid COD or credit card at the time of booking unless an approved account has been established. Rates do not include GST, this is shown as a separate entry.

    What information is required when making a booking?

    1. Qty and type of product (eg. 16 cartons of wine)
    2. Temperature range required (°C) (eg. CHILLED 0°C to +4°C)
      1. *NB bookings, consignment notes and pallets must clearly state the transport temperature required. If unmarked Chill cannot be held liable for transportation at incorrect temperatures
    3. Dimensions (H x W x D cm)
    4. Weight (kgs) [ ] (kgs)
    5. Chep/Loscam Pallet exchange required - Yes / No
    6. Hand load / unload - Yes / No
    7. Hazardous goods
    8. Address pick up and delivery
    9. Contact details for pick up and for delivery
    10. Delivery type; General, Express or Dedicated
    11. Invoice to
    12. Provide PO number or booking reference name for inclusion in invoices
    13. If you have multiple bookings please complete this booking form/manifest

    What do I need to tell Chill about my goods being transported? 

    Dangerous goods must be disclosed and declared at the time of booking. MSDS and all relevant information pertaining to safety must be provided.

    Type of goods disclosure

    Consignment contents/types of goods must be disclosed along with weight estimates. Chill has the right to refuse or nominate any dedicated service for any dangerous, odorous, or high-value goods that may pose a risk to our staff, food safety program or travelling conditions of freight.

    When do I need to notify you about my transport requirements? 

    If you need something dispatched the following day please notify Chill by 1pm the day before, except for public holidays, Christmas/Easter (communication of revised notification times will be sent via email prior).

    What sort of insurance am I covered for?

    Customers are encouraged to insure goods in transit as insurance is not included in our rates. Should you require special or one-off insurance for high-value consignments please advise and we can arrange on your behalf and include the additional cost to your consignment. 

    What if I need to cancel my booking?

    Please cancel your booking prior to 24hrs before the scheduled collection.

    Any freight cancelled less than 24hrs prior to scheduled collection will incur a fee of 50% of the original booking.
